I hate The Bachelorette

I hate our modern Cinderella. Talk about a play in contrasts. Monday night I watched the Bachelorette. Last night I watched Cinderella. I’m afraid contemporary culture has got something very, very wrong about love. Although a fairy tale, Cinderella writers had something right. The love story is about a man and a woman. They meet, want to know each other more, want to be together. The striking difference is that our modern Cinderella, the Bachelorette, has too many princes. The love story is not pure. There can’t be love growing when it is divided. Love requires an undivided heart. The [ …read full story ]

Love For God All of our relationships in life must be built on the foundation of God’s love for us, and our response to His love. When we love God, our life will look differently than before we knew Him. Walking in the Light

The little Christmas tree lights shine, making a bright spot in a dark room.  The cheery decor sets an ambiance of joy in the midst of sadness.  You see, Grandma is dying. She’s wrapping up her days here on earth.  Her body is failing her, but her spirit is strong and joyful and secure in the hope of salvation and the peace that passes understanding. You see, Grandma loves Jesus.  She knows Him personally.  When you hear her speak of Him, she talks of an old friend. Grandma is no longer hungry for food.  Her only hunger is for Jesus. What is it all about?  And, what is love’s purpose in God’s eyes?  There are seven (perfect) points that I think will help in navigating the rocky years of love relationships between guys and girls before marriage. So here goes. 1.  Pray for your heart.  Pray that God would be your first love.  Pray that you would love God with all of your heart, soul, mind, and strength.  (Deut 6:5). [ …read full story ]

To Share or not to Share

Should we share our lives with others? Relationships take work.  Investment.  Vulnerability.  Energy. Patience.  Sometimes grief, loss, or suffering.  They can take the life out of us if we let them. Should we let relationships zap the life out of us? I believe that Christ’s answer would be 1000 times yes. Let me explain.  1 John 3:16 says “This is how we know what love is:  Jesus Christ laid down his life for us.  And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.”  And Jesus said :  “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with [ …read full story ]

Mother's Day

Why do we honor Mother’s day? Celebrate our Moms one day a year? Thank them, love them, hug them, give verbal affirmations. Remind them that you notice all of the little meaningful things they do for you? Honoring Mom on Mother’s Day can be a special occasion to set aside time to think and reflect on our relationship with our moms. Today I was challenge to write about what I appreciate about my Mom. Trust me, I could list a thousand easy things. Where to start is the hardest part. I will go where I go naturally. Love. She started [ …read full story ]
